Taking a little break….

Hi everyone.  I’m sorry I have not posted in a while.  On April 13th my mom passed away unexpectedly after a short illness.  She had been ill for a long while with other things and was in long term care, but her last illness appeared quickly and took her quickly.  She had fought for so long, getting better after each bout with sickness, but this time she was just too tired and weak to go on.  She only 76 years old.

I am devastated and very sad, it’s been very tough, but I know mom would want me to keep crafting.  So I promise I will be back, it just might take me a little while to get back on track.

Thanks for any prayers and good thoughts you can send my way, they are much appreciated.

Hugs, Beth

Dream Big – Gina K. Designs

I love the stamp sets that designer Beth Silaika designs for Gina K. Designs.  They are so cute and whimsical!  Today’s card features a set from Beth called “Bella Elephant”.

dreambig

For this card I colored the images with my Copic markers (I forgot to jot down which markers I used, but I believe I used mainly cool greys for the elephant and blue and violets and some pink for the other images).  The coloring was done on X-Press It Blending card, which is my preferred choice for Copic Coloring.  I stamped all the images with Black Licorice Hybrid ink from MFT.

I used some pattern paper, also from Gina K. Designs, called Birthday Hoot to layer the focal image on.  The card base is Neenah Solar White, 110 lb and is cut to 8 x 8, scored at 4″ to create a 4 x 4 top folding card.

I added some clear Wink of Stella and clear Nuvo Crystal drops for some sparkle.  I also used Glossy Accents on the balloon.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

Have a great day!

Beth 🙂

Easter Egg Juggler – Penny Black

Today’s card features a sweet stamp set from Penny Black, this is an older set and most likely retired, but that doesn’t make it any less cute!  The stamp set is “Spring Day”.

EasterEggJuggler

I used the following Copic markers to color the images:  E000, 00, 11, 33, 35, 37; V12, 15, Y11, B00, 02, Yg11, and and the Blender Pen.   I used the scalloped rectangle frame die and some of the stitched rectangle dies from MFT for the various panels.  The pattern paper is from MFT, and the pink and white papers are from my stash.

As you can see I went a little nuts with the sequins 🙂  These are from Pretty Pink Posh, the Fresh Garden Mix.  So pretty!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a fabulous day!

Blast From The Past Card-Stinkin’ Cute

Today’s Blast From the Past Card is just too darn stinkin’ cute!!!

28396248272_62cab107f2_o-1

I made this card with my daughter, Amy, in mind.  Amy is slightly autistic with a disorder called Sensory Processing Disorder.  She is a very smart little girl, she just has limits to what she can take in and process.  So I created this card wanting to do a cute but simple design.  If you want to make it even simpler you can leave off the sequins (especially if you have a child that likes to put things in their mouth!)

I used the Lawn Fawn stamp set and matching die, “Stinkin’ Cute” and colored the image in with my Copics.  The card base is Neenah Solar White cut to 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2.  The pattern paper is from the Let’s Polka in the dark 6 x 6 paper pack from Lawn Fawn and is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I ran that piece through the Big Shot using the largest stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn.

The focal image piece is from Neenah Solar White card stock and measures 3 3/4 x 5″.  For the background I used Salty Ocean distress ink and Juice Box ink from Lawn Fawn to create a sort of stormy looking summer sky.  I then used another stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn to cut that panel.  The clouds are cut from Neenah Solar White using the Puffy Cloud Dies and the grass is cut from some green card stock in my stash using the Grassy Border Die (both from LF).

Sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh and I added some “smell” lines from the stamp set and a little flower (also from the set) to the skunks hair.

Just a cute little card for someone very special!

Thanks for stopping by, have an awesome day!

Hugs, Beth 🙂

Bonjour!

No, I am not blogging from Paris, but I did manage to create an ooh la la card using the fab MFT set Mon Cheri!

bonjour

I used X-Press It Blending card for my focal image piece which measures 3 1/4 x 4 3/8, it is backed by some pale pink card stock from my stash that I *think* is from Gina K. Designs.  I colored the images with my Copic markers and added lots of glitter and Nuvo crystal drops.  I also added a bit of ground and just a hint of grass.

The card base is Neenah Solar White measuring 11 x 4 1/4 scored at 5 1/2.  I placed a mat of pastel plaid pattern paper from MFT on the front, measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I used some lavender card stock from my stash to cut the scalloped frame using the Scalloped Frame Die-Namics Die from MFT, the largest one.

I love love love how this card turned out, it’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to Paris!

Thanks for joining me today!!

Hugs!

Beth 🙂

Some Bunny Easter Card

Had so much fun designing and coloring this card!  I finally got to use one of my new stencils from MFT!  Here is the card I created:

somebunny

I used an older MFT stamp set for this card, I’m not even sure it’s still available.  “Pure Innocence Bunny Ears”.  I got this set at my local scrap-book store and it was in the clearance section, so kinda guessing it’s not still out there!  But you may get lucky enough to find one on Ebay.  A very cute set!

For the background I used the MIX-ables Stencils from MFT called Funky Florals.  I wanted to keep it all very soft and pastel-ly so I chose the following Distress Inks for the inking:  picked raspberry, peacock feathers, mustard seed, salty ocean.  I used ink daubers and daubed the ink on rather than rubbing, I didn’t bother blending anything, I just sort of let one color flow into another.  I was really pleased with the results!!

I used Copic markers for the image:  E000, E00, E11, E33 (face, skin); E33, 35, 37 (hair)  B00, 02, 04 (egg); Rv21, 23 (outfit)

I also added Nuvo Crystal drops in various pastel colors and lots of Clear Wink of Stella!

The card base is Neenah Solar White, 110 lb., 11 x 4 1/4, scored at 5 1/2.  I also cut a mat of Kraft cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  The pink mat is from Gina K. Designs and I believe is Bubblegum Pink (?).  The stenciled piece is cut to 4 x 5 1/4, and the pink piece is cut just slightly larger to leave a slim edge.

The focal image of the card is X-Press It Blending card and is cut to 2 3/4 x 4 and also matted to a piece of the pink cut slightly larger.

The sentiment strip is Bubblegum pink and measures 2 3/4 x 3/4″.  The sentiment is actually from the Simon Says Stamp Some Bunny stamp set.  I stamped the Some Bunny and the heart with Loves You in Versa Mark ink and used fine white detail embossing powder from Gina K. Designs and my heat tool to emboss this onto the strip.  I then popped that up with foam tape and the card was finished!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have an awesome day!

Hugs, Beth

Blast From the Past Card-Tiny Ninjas

Today’s Blast From the Past Card features the Tiny Ninjas stamp set from Mama Elephant.

28576058796_46b217d448_o

Very easy but adorable card to create.  The card base is black, measuring 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  The white mat is Neenah Solar White 110 lb card stock, measuring 5 1/4 x 4.  I stamped 3 of the little Ninjas from the set and the sentiments using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Then I just added some black and white twine wrapped twice around and tied in a knot to the front.  (Oh and I also colored the little heart using a red gel pen)

I hope you enjoyed today’s Blast from the Past!

Have an awesome day!

MFT Hugs & Birdhouses Card

One of the things I love about card making is when I get the chance to share what I know with someone else.  And when that someone is my oldest daughter, Maddie, I like it even more!

Maddie recently expressed interest in learning the art of card making and I happily took on the job!  One afternoon we sat down and working together we created this absolutely beautiful card:

mfthugs

We started with the bird houses, cutting them from the bird house die-namics dies from MFT.  These dies are super fun, the bird houses come in pieces and you get to put them together and decorate them any way you please.  We added the little birds that come in the die set as well and I colored them blue with my Copic Markers.

The card base is Neenah Solar White, measuring 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2.  The mat is from my stash and measures 4 x 5 1/4.  The check piece of pattern paper is from MFT and measures 3 3/4 x 5″.  We cut the Hugs from the same paper as the mat 3 times and glued them together.  (the die is from MFT)

We added Glossy Accents to the sentiment and glitter all over to finish it up.

I absolutely love this card and the time spent creating with my beautiful daughter was priceless!

I hope you have a fabulous day and HUGS to all of you!

Beth & Maddie 🙂

Fly By Friends – MFT Card

Hi everyone!  I love today’s card, it’s so bright and cheerful and contains a bit of what I call “old school” crafting, so I hope you enjoy seeing it!

Here’s a pic:

mftflutter

The stamp set I used is “Fly By Friends” from MFT.  I stamped the two flowers in the set in an alternating pattern across the front of the card using my MISTI stamping tool to get just the right look.  I stamped all the images using the Black Licorice Hybrid ink pad from MFT – which I LOVE by the way!!!

For the grass at the bottom of the card I used the little grass stamp from the set and Spearmint and Field Day inks from MFT.  (I ended up not quite liking how the grass turned out so I added some ribbon across the bottom.  I love that old school look!)

I used X-Press It Blending card for the focal image and the following Copic markers to color everything:

Blender Pen, RV21, 23, 25; R24, 39; B00, 02, 04; BG11, 0000; Y11, 15, 17; YG 11, 13, 17; BV00, 02, 04; E35, 55; W7; C00

The card base is Grape-sicle from MFT, cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4.  The focal image piece measures 5 1/4 x 4, the inside panel (also on X-Press It) measures 5 x 3 3/4.

Clear Wink of Stella on evvvvverything!  🙂  Glossy Accents to the flower centers.  And finally some Nuvo Crystal Jewel Drops scattered about the flowers and the card was finished!

Thanks for letting me share this colorful, friendly little card with you.  Have a great day everyone!!

Hugs,

Beth 🙂

Blast From the Past Card-Crazy Dogs

It’s Friday and that means time for another Blast From the Past card!  Today you get two for the price of one! What a bargain! 😉

27991531894_8d9c02a29a_o

The first card is this goofy looking dog from the Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs Stamp Set.  The card base is Neenah Solar White 110 lb, measuring 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2.  The first mat is a royal blue color from my stash, measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and cut with the largest stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn.  The second mat is on Neenah Solar White and measures 3 3/4 x 5″, and I also ran that through the Big Shot with the next size down stitched rectangle die.  The image is colored with copic markers and I also used a very light colored blue to add a skyish background.

For the smile sentiment, I used the Smile die from Lawn Fawn, cutting it out 4 times from the same blue cardstock as the mat.  I then adhered those together and covered it in Glossy Accents for shine.

To finish it off I added some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Here is the second card:

28530104871_4e2aa908b0_o

For this card I used the same Crazy Dogs stamp set from Tim Holtz and a different dog.  I colored the image with my Copics and created kind of an odd shaped card.  This card measures 5 x 4 1/2 when finished.  I layered some teal and yellow card stock from my stash to create the mats and the Smile die cut.  The die cut was cut using the Lawn Fawn Smile die, cut four times, layered together and covered in Glossy Accents.  I also used Glossy Accents on the dogs eyes and added some white detail with a white gel pen.

I love how both of these cards turned out, this stamp set is so much fun!!!

Hugs,

Beth
